Today I love...

Hawaii-printed US currency, used during WWII, when the government was afraid that Japan would soon takeover the islands.

I remember hearing stories from my grandmother about living in Honolulu right after Pearl Harbor. Curfews, blackout curtains, and gas-masks were everyday practices.

I love the font juxtaposition on the money, and the history behind it. Oh, if only I could find some of this money to frame. That would be so cool.

Happy Lei Day!

Happy May Day!
Happy Lei Day in Hawai'i!

Unfortunately, it's not too sunny, nor are there leis here in Philadelphia.
But it is Lei Day in spirit.

Recognize that little girl in the photo? Yep, it's me.
Thanks, Mom, for the photo!

Summer?

It seriously feels like Summer out today. Breezy, not a cloud in the sky, high in the 70s. I could just close my eyes and picture I'm at Lanikai beach in Hawai'i (maybe my favorite place in the whole wide world).

I'm waiting for Roger to get back from the Barber and then we're heading to the park with a big blanket & snacks to nap, read, snap some pics, and just enjoy the day.

Happy Saturday!
