Weekend Plans

Ahh, this weekend I'm looking forward to working on the Save the Dates, beginning to think about Christmas gifts (i know my brother is just DYING for a powerbook), more house projects, and (I never thought I would say this...) painting the ceiling in the studio! I'm still up in the air over a wall color for the studio, but I want something inspirational... The one thing about living in a house in Fishtown is that I'm never at a loss for weekend projects.

I'll leave you with this work by Alex Lukas at Glowlab (via My Love for You...). It reminds me of one of my all-time favorite songs, "Nothing but Flowers" by the Talking Heads.

Listen to it here.

Best Wedding Discovery!

This is seriously the greatest thing since Roger proposed to me.

Wait for it...

It's a website where you can link ANYTHING sold on the web and list it on a registry!

Hooray!

Down with the Bed, Bath & Beyond tyranny!
Up with quirk & independent design!

You can even prioritize items from
"I'm thinking about this" to "I want this" to "I neeeed this!"

I think one of the first things I want to list are these memo/graph paper cups from Fishs Eddy.
Definitely not found at BB&B.

Bridesmaids

For my wonderful bridesmaids (all 7 of them), I'm suggesting some jcrew black dresses for them to wear to the wedding. I'm doing this mostly for their own comfort (not everybody looks good in one color, or in the same dress for that matter) and there is a wide variety of accessories to dress up a simple black dress. I would like each lovely lady to be able to dress like herself instead of feeling dressed up. That being said, here is some bridesmaid inspiration using a few of those little black dresses.

Everyday Plates

I'm debating with my fiance, Roger, about our wedding registry. Do we need wedding china? He says yes (for tradition's sake), but I'm less inclined to feel the need for wedding china. The whole argument is that when we have company over (or for special occasions) we should pull out the nice china. But shouldn't your everyday plates be aesthetically pleasing enough for company (i.e. close friends and family)? There is an upcoming information-gathering trip to Crate & Barrel to look at plates.

I like these Virginia Sin plates that are cast from actual paper plates, with no two plates being exactly alike. And I love the idea that everyday plates can resemble something manufactured, but be so artistically unique as well as being aesthetically pleasing. Too bad I can't register for them (also they are a little pricey). But I wouldn't mind having one large sized plate around as a serving plate.
